Located in northeastern Denver, Colorado, Denver International Airport (DIA) is the fifth busiest international airport in the world and the largest airport in the U.S. by total land area. WorldWater engineered and constructed the ground mounted single-axis tracking system at the entrance to the main terminal, the system has a project surface area of 7.5 acres.  The 2 Megawatt installation generates 3.5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean electricity annually and reduce DIA’s carbon emissions by five million pounds a year. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) created their Standards and Procedures for solar airport installations using the DIA System as a case study that is now documented in the Federal procedures. The amount of electricity generated is equivalent to 1,800 homes.
